The AI Action Plan for Switzerland, coordinated by digitalswitzerland in close collaboration with the Federal Office of Communications, comprises 23 concrete measures aimed at strengthening Switzerland’s readiness in the field of artificial intelligence. These measures are being driven by companies, organizations, research institutions, and public-sector partners and help turn digital ambitions into reality.
SIZ AG, an independent Swiss testing and certification organization, is developing the AI Advanced-User SIZ® certificate in accordance with the “Certificate for Trustworthy AI Use” microcredential endorsed by digitalswitzerland as part of the AI Action Plan. SIZ is responsible for administering the exam and provides preparatory materials to educational institutions and companies that are responsible for delivering the training.

What do you receive with the certificate AI Advanced-User SIZ®?
The certificate AI Advanced-User SIZ® confirms that an individual uses artificial intelligence safely, efficiently, and responsibly in their daily work. The exam assesses, using practical examples, the candidate’s ability to use generative AI in a targeted manner, critically evaluate results, and comply with data protection and information security requirements. This provides companies with neutral, Switzerland-wide recognition that their employees are proficient in working with AI.

The Module: Using AI in Everyday Work
The certificate covers four core topics in a single exam module. The exam is competency-based and designed to be practical. The percentages indicate the weighting of the four areas in terms of content.
Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (20%)
- Distinguishing Between AI, ML, GenAI, and LLM and Understanding Their Roles in a Work Context
- Explain the basics of how generative AI works (training data, probability, contextual limits)
- Assessing the Strengths and Limitations of AI
- Recognizing Hallucinations, Biases, and Distortions
Effective Use of Generative AI (40%)
- Formulate goal-oriented prompts (clearly specify the context, goal, and desired output)
- Apply Advanced Prompting Techniques
- Iteratively improve prompts and systematically guide the interaction
- Selecting AI Tools and Using Them Effectively in a Business Context
Critical Evaluation of AI Outputs (20%)
- Check results for plausibility, consistency, and quality
- Conduct a fact-check and evaluate sources based on their authority and recency
- Correcting Incorrect Outputs (Correction Prompts, Generating Alternatives)
- Assessing Uncertainties and Manually Refining Outputs
Data Protection and Information Security (20%)
- Handling Personal Data and Sensitive Data Correctly
- Applying Data Minimization and Purpose Limitation When Using AI
- Detecting and Avoiding Shadow AI and Prompt Leaks

Exam Information
Exam
A practical exam model, administered online on theSIZ® exam platform.
Exam format: 40% knowledge-based questions, 60% case-based scenarios and applications.
If you pass, you will receive a forgery-proof digital certificate.
Examination Committee
The exam is overseen by an examination board composed of experts from the fields of academia, business, education, law, and data protection.
It develops the exam and keeps it up to date—revising the content, evaluating the results, and ensuring quality, fairness, and practical relevance.
Dates & Fees
You can take the test whenever it’s convenient for you—the test is administered on an ongoing basis and takes 60 minutes.
The exam fees for participants from partner schools are CHF 260 per module.
The exam fees for participants at the SIZ office are CHF 312 per module.
